The Marriage Course was started by Nicky & Sila Lee in 1996, at the Holy Trinity, Brompton – the London Church that introduced the ALPHA course.
The Marriage Course is very practical, offering to all married couples the tools to build a strong & healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. Over 8 evenings spent together, the couples talk about important issues that can get swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life. The Marriage Course also offers the opportunity to make new friends.
Topics covered include: recognizing each other's needs, learning to communicate effectively, resolving conflict, healing past hurt, knowing how to make each other feel loved, relating to parents & in–laws, good sex, making time for each other & having fun together.
Each evening is hosted by the course leaders and begins with a candlelit meal – the setting is welcoming, relaxed & non-threatening. A video is shown introducing a different topic each week followed by the opportunity to discuss it together, in private as a couple.
The Marriage Course is for any married couple wanting to build a strong, lasting & rewarding relationship, especially:
The course, while based on Christian principles, is helpful for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background.
The Cost of the course is £125 per couple (in 2007), which includes a 2 course dinner for the 8 evenings & the manual. Please make contact with the leaders for more details. Financial assistance may be available so please feel free to approach the leaders if this is the case.
